One year ago today I said goodbye to my best friend leaving for Florida. July 28, 2015 is the last day we got to see each other so it’s been heavy on my heart to talk about having a best friend far away. I scrolled up on my phone for half a hour trying to find the text shown above and it really gave a reminder on how much effort goes into this kind of friendship. I didn’t grow up with Claudia we just met October 2014 through a mutual friend and we had an instant connection. She’s someone I can always trust and someone who is honest with me. Now, if you’re going off to college/anywhere new or your best friend is don’t worry! If you want it to work, it will work. If you’re meant to be in each other’s lives, you will be. Life works that way.
A glimpse into a year without seeing my best friend:
Realizing that through texts can’t express everything you want say
Having an outside opinion from someone who doesn’t know everyone
Actually having someone text me just to talk
Getting the best advice
Getting through other friend breakups
Having someone always down to listen to you
Mutually getting excited about our lives together
Sending off happy birthday and holiday wishes
Exchanging birthday and Christmas gifts
Inspiring each other to be their best
Tagging them in almost every best friend post you see
Your best friend slays the prom pictures
Your best friend pretty much slays at anything
Getting through rough patches
Knowing that they won’t judge you but put you in your place
There were some times we got caught up and didn’t talk
BUT WE BOUNCE RIGHT BACK
There is nothing that I would trade only if I could see my best friend more often. It really made me appreciate the person I have for me and who will always have my back. I know that Claudia is the most genuine, honest, and loyal friend I have right now. I am forever thankful for our friendship however far it may be. I’m not saying everything is perfect don’t go in to this expecting it to be you really see if you are meant to be friends. Sooner or later I will be reunited with my best friend and I can’t wait until then we’ll keep our FaceTime dates and doing what we do. No one encourages me more than my best friend. Maybe one day her graduation speech will her bridesmaid speech I can only hope for the best.
When you have someone worth it go the extra mile.
Much love always for my best friend Claudia
I know this is on my shorter posts list but it’s a light hearted post don’t forget to stay updated by Instagram
Tell me your best friend story, do you have one you haven’t seen in a while? I’d love to hear all about it!
